Empowerment
While most low-income immigrant women are leaders in their homes, and “behind the scenes” leaders in their churches, few recognize or promote this leadership. To develop this potential in a way that furthers Adelante's mission, Adelante has identified three key issues around which to focus political involvement efforts. These are: 1) addressing unequal relationships at home, 2) promoting community awareness of the need for solid, public education for all children and adults, and 3) taking action on behalf of the environment.
Adelante Mujeres has taken groups of women to Salem to meet their representatives and reinforce the power of the people.
