[Video] New Adelante Mujeres Initiative Works to De-stigmatize Mental Health within the Latinx Community

When working towards a future where all families are thriving and where all Latinas are empowered to lead and use their voices to cultivate a just and inclusive society, mental health is the foundation on which we build.

But a current lack of mental health support for the Latinx community, including access to bilingual and culturally responsive providers and services for the uninsured, create barriers for Latinx community members.

In this video, Teena Soto Smith, Mental Health Liason at Adelante Mujeres, discusses a new Adelante initiative, called the ‘Mental Health Project’, which is aimed at connecting Latinx community members with mental health providers and destigmatizing mental health challenges. Newly created roles at Adelante Mujeres, including Teena’s, will help ignite this new project which is currently in its infancy.
