    Volunteer or Intern with Adelante Mujeres

    Adelante Mujeres counts on the dedication and support of volunteers to ensure that our programs run smoothly, and that our organization continues evolving and responding to the needs of the community.

    Thanks to the diversity of our program activities, we offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities to:

    • Spanish speakers and non-Spanish speakers alike
    • Students and professionals
    • Individuals and groups – offices, teams, church groups, families, etc. are all encouraged to contact us about opportunities to be involved

    We welcome volunteers to work with us on an ongoing basis, or to attend a one-time volunteer event or activity.

    Fall & Winter 2015 Volunteer Opportunities

    Winter Market Set Up

    Volunteers Needed: 2-4 People

    Frequency: Flexible

    Position Description:  Help us set up for our indoor winter market Forest Grove Farmers Market events, a program of Adelante Mujeres!  We need volunteers to help us move tables and chairs, hang banners, help our vendors load-in and out, and direct traffic and parking! Help us set up the market, then shop and enjoy!

    Winter Market Tear Down

    Volunteers Needed: 2-4 People

    Frequency:  Flexible

    Position Description:  Help tear-down and clean up our winter Forest Grove Farmers Markets!  We need volunteers to help vendors load their vehicles, move tables and chairs, help us sweep and clean the Elks Lodge facilities, and to remove decorations. After you've shopped at the market and filled your pantry - stick around to help us put the room back in order!

    Fiesta of Hope Auction Organizer

    Schedule: Flexible

    Location: From home, with occasional meetings at our main office on Main Street, Forest Grove

    Adelante Mujeres is seeking a part time volunteer to serve as support for Adelante Mujeres' annual fundraiser, Fiesta of Hope. By assisting Adelante's development team with sending request letters, making personal follow-up calls, creating auction baskets, and reaching out to new businesses, you will further Adelante's mission to provide education and empowerment opportunities to low-income Latina women and their families.  There will be a few meetings at Adelante Mujeres' offices in Forest Grove to organize and check in, but much of this work will be done on your own time keeping in communication with development staff by email or phone.

    Chicas Facilitator Assistant

    Commitment: At least one full school semester or one full school year/1-2 days per week

    Schedule:  Sessions are typically 90 minutes long, scheduled between 2:30PM, one day per week.

    Location:  Schools in Forest Grove and Hillsboro

    Work with our amazing Chicas students while you assist our site facilitator in organizing and leading educational, exciting and fun after-school sessions for Latina youth! You will get to know our students, and be in charge of supervision, taking attendance, snack set-up and distribution, and clean-up of the school site each week. You will also be asked to attend at least one parent gathering where you will get to know our students' families. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

    Cultural and Intergenerational Champion & Materials Prep

    Schedule: Third Tuesday of each month, 10:00AM, Additional work flexible

    Location: Cornell Estates Retirement and Assisted Living in Hillsboro

    Position Description:  Organize volunteer work completed by the retirees at Cornell Estates in Hillsboro and foster their relationship with our Adult Education and Early Childhood Education students.  Help to gather materials, organize and lead the residents of Cornell Estates as they prepare classroom materials for our preschool students.  Coordinate visits by our Adult Education students for language exchange and visits by our preschool students to get to know the residents at Cornell Estates.  Other opportunities may include helping Cornell residents read aloud to record books for “Raise a Reader” and planning activities the residents and our students can do together.

    Childcare during Empresas Small Business Development Class

    Schedule:  Tuesday evenings, 6PM – 8PM

    Location:  Beaverton Activities Center, 12500 SW Allen Blvd. Beaverton

    Love cute kids? Tend to tots while their parents learn about small business development! Supervise and entertain children from the ages of 3 – 10 years old.  Bring your ideas for games and activities for all to enjoy! Spanish skills are preferred but not required (many of our students and their families speak Spanish).  By providing childcare, you are giving these families an opportunity to learn skills that will help them achieve financial stability and independence!
