When we talk about building Latina leaders at Adelante Mujeres, this is a perfect example of what we mean.

Elvira participated in our Nourish the Community Program where she learned about the importance of nutritious food for families, as well as the importance of spreading this information and the access to good food to others.

Now, she is a strong community leader who runs a food pantry, providing food to families in need. She has continued the food pantry during the current COVID-19 crisis.

"Elvira coordinates everyone (and everything with the help of volunteers); from getting boxes, sorting food, organizing, and distributing the food boxes to the families.  She’s been there for a long time. She’s a woman leader who takes care of our community in many ways. I like working with her!" - Dora Lopez

Elvira is joined by two other women who have participated in Adelante Mujeres programs, who help out at the food pantry, along with other essential volunteers.

If you or someone you know needs emergency food resources, this pantry is open Fridays at NAMS Neil Armstrong Middle School : 1777 Mountain View Ln, Forest Grove, OR 97116, every friday from 3:00 to 5:45PM .
