Hispanic Heritage Month: Creativity, Community & Entrepreneurship

This Hispanic Heritage Month 2026, we’re celebrating the stories, talents, and passions that make our community thrive.

Nancy Vidal Martinez is a social work professional and the creator behind Vidal X Creationss, a small business inspired by her love of crochet and her connection to Adelante Mujeres.

Nancy first learned about Adelante Mujeres while in high school, when she participated in the Chicas program. Years later, while pursuing her bachelor’s degree, she completed an internship with Adelante’s Clínica Esperanza. It was there that an occupational therapist taught her how to crochet, sparking a passion that continues to grow today.

Today, Nancy balances her career in social work with her love for crocheting, making time for self-care while sharing her creations with the community. You can find her at our Forest Grove Farmers Market every Wednesday, where she brings her work and connects with the community.

Nancy describes her experience at the farmers market as a great one, highlighting the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere that makes her look forward to coming back each week.

Her message to others who dream of having a career while also running a small business is simple: it’s possible to make time for the things you love.

Through Vidal X Creationss, Nancy reminds us that making space for creativity and self-care can go hand in hand with our professional lives.

As we close Hispanic Heritage Month, Nancy’s story is a reminder of the talent, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit within our community.
