Program Strategies

Our Family Engagement team works directly with our Adult Education, Early Childhood Education, and Chicas Youth Development teams to engage the whole family of our participants. Through culturally specific education services that are grounded in popular education, families are empowered to learn and lead, including the promotion of shared leadership between schools and families. We use state and/or national certified-curricula that prepares Latine children, youth, and adults to achieve academic success with an emphasis on social-emotional learning.

 Why Family Engagement?

Family Engagement has always been central at Adelante Mujeres. In order for a child or youth to fully thrive and reach their full potential, it is essential that their family be actively engaged. Our two-generation approach promotes healthy attachment, bonding, child development, and learning for children and their parents/caregivers. By starting this work early, during a child’s preschool years, we aim to prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which can have a lifelong impact of a child’s health and opportunity. Through culturally-responsive parent education series, families expand their knowledge about child development, build effective parenting skills, and strengthen parent-child relationships to enhance a child’s health, development, and school readiness.
