2026 Latina Leadership Award

Every year our Adelante Mujeres staff selects a Latina leader in Oregon whose work uplifts and advances the Latine community and honor her with the Latina Leadership Award. We are pleased to announce that the 2026 winner is Wlnsvey Campos! 

Wlnsvey Campos is the youngest state senator in Oregon history, elected in 2022 at age 26 to represent Senate District 18 that encompasses parts of Beaverton, Hillsboro, and Aloha. A first-generation college graduate from Pacific University, she grew up in a low-income household in Bandon and draws on her lived experience to advocate for issues like food insecurity, education, affordable housing, and homelessness. Of Latina heritage, Campos is committed to increasing representation in government and serving her diverse Washington County community.   

The Latina Leadership Award is presented during Fiesta of Hope, our annual gala. Andrea Vega-Zamora, a student at Portland State University and McNair Scholar, accepted the award on behalf of Senator Campos. “Senator Campos is someone I deeply admire and respect, as she embodies Latina excellence for all young women,” Andrea said from the stage. “When I first met Senator Campos, I felt a sense of connection and excitement as I finally saw someone from a background similar to mine in the field of policymaking, and a career that simultaneously prioritizes the needs of the community.” 

In a video that played during Fiesta of Hope, Senator Campos shared her gratitude. “Being awarded the Latina Leadership Award from Adelante Mujeres means so much to me. It’s such an honor. I know that Adelante Mujeres does so much to uplift the women in our community, to help people find their voices.” She reflected that the work she does aligns with the mission of Adelante. “It is a responsibility to keep doing this work, keep fighting for others, and uplift others to make sure that the ladder is there for folks to climb.”
