We are proud to be guided by a Board of Directors that truly reflects the heart of our community. This year, we’re celebrating the arrival of a new board member and the powerful women stepping into leadership on our Executive Committee. 

In June 2025, the Adult Education team at Adelante Mujeres celebrates a milestone that fills our hearts with pride: the largest GED graduation in the past ten years! This moment goes beyond numbers, it honors the dreams, determination, and resilience of adults who chose to believe in themselves.

Since 2018, Adelante Mujeres has partnered with Washington County to launch the Washington County Civic Leaders Program, and the response has been incredible. Over the years, 161 leaders from various backgrounds across the county have proudly graduated from this program, showcasing the strength of community interest and involvement. 

During the month of June, Adelante Mujeres proudly celebrated the end of the school year with joyful, heartwarming ceremonies honoring the accomplishments of its preschool students. This year, 90 preschool graduates participated in the festivities—some preparing to take the exciting leap into kindergarten, while others will return for another enriching year of preschool.

At Adelante Mujeres, we know that when we center community, culture, and connection, we open doors to powerful transformation. Our Chicas Youth Development Program is an example of a space where we create joyful and accessible experiences for about 700 Latine youth in grades 3-12 at 28 schools throughout Washington County, OR.

The 2025 Fiesta of Hope, presented by Trammell Crow Company, was a powerful celebration of community, resilience, and the unstoppable fuerza (strength) of Latine immigrant families. After months of preparation and anticipation, the big night arrived and what a night it was! Nearly 300 people gathered at Castaway in Portland to honor our collective strength, uplift voices that are too often unheard, and raise critical funds to support and empower our Latine community. 

Through our powerful partnership with Oregon Worker Relief’s ECO program, we’re helping immigrant communities navigate legal pathways with dignity and hope.

At Adelante Mujeres, we believe in the power of the land and the potential within our community. That's why we created our Spanish-language regenerative agriculture program, supporting Latino farmers and gardeners in building sustainable, thriving agricultural businesses.

Immigrant communities like ours are building power through education, entrepreneurship, and solidarity. A recent Nonprofit Quarterly article features Adelante Mujeres and describes how Latina and immigrant empowerment strengthens us all.  

On April 9, the first 2025 edition of Empresas 101, Adelante Mujeres’ business fundamentals course, came to a close. After ten sessions, 17 entrepreneurs presented their business pitches with determination and pride. Each of them demonstrated a deep commitment to their personal and business growth, taking an important step toward launching their ideas or strengthening the direction of their ventures. 

At Adelante Mujeres, we believe in the power of community and the importance of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive. In October 2024, our Family Engagement staff recognized a growing need among families in our Early Childhood Education and parenting programs. Many children required additional support, and we knew that we could provide guidance and resources to help. 

At Adelante Mujeres, our Community Health Workers are the heartbeat of community care. They are the ones who listen deeply, show up consistently, and walk alongside individuals facing real, everyday challenges.

At Adelante Mujeres, we believe that access to fresh, local foods is not just a privilege—it’s a fundamental right. Through our advocacy and programming, we are working to ensure that all children and families, regardless of income or immigration status, can nourish themselves with fresh, local foods that reflect their heritage and support their well-being. 

The legislative session is the time when elected representatives come together to create, debate, and pass laws that impact our daily lives. It’s when decisions about funding for schools, healthcare, housing, and other important community needs are made. During this period, lawmakers listen to input from the public, advocate for policies, and work to address the challenges facing our state. It’s a critical opportunity for communities to make their voices heard and shape the future of Oregon.​

For the 22nd consecutive year, the Portland Business Journal’s Women of Influence Awards is honoring exceptional women who are making a difference in Oregon and Southwest Washington. This prestigious recognition celebrates leaders who drive change, foster inclusivity, and strengthen their communities. Among this year’s 31 remarkable honorees is Bridget Cooke, co-founder and Executive Director of Adelante Mujeres.

We have reached an exciting milestone: recognition by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Access Programs! This means our attorney and accredited representatives can now provide vital immigration legal services to our community. It’s a huge step forward in helping Latine and immigrant families thrive.
